Religious and Cultural
Harmony
Nepal is one of the best
examples of religious and cultural harmony in the world. One can find a
harmonious blending of Hinduism and Buddhism in the country. Known as a
'melting pot of Asia', several ethnic groups from different cultures and
customs live together in Nepal. The Sherpas, who are from Tibeto-Burman
origin, dwell in the higher hills or on the lower part of high mountains
in the north. They have already earned name and fame globally in the
field of mountaineering and trekking. A wide variety of people live in
the mid-hills. They include Brahmins, Kshetris, Newars, Tamangs and
others. The Tharus and other ethnic groups live in the plain land of
Terai, which is linked with India. The Tharus, who have their own
traditional culture, practice animism.
