Sikkim

Sikkim, a beautiful hill destination of India, lies far away from the heat and dust. Cradled by the towering peaks of the mighty Himalayas, Sikkim is sprawled over the area below Mt. Kanchenjunga. The world’s third highest peak, Mt. Kanchanjungha is the guardian diety.

Sikkim is inhabited predominantly by the people from Nepali origin, Lepchas and Bhutias. Surrounded by Tibet in the north, Bhutan in the east, Nepal in the west and the Indian State of West Bengal in the south, it is often referred to as the ' Garden Kingdom of the Himalayas because of its rich flora and fauna. There are over 600 varieties of orchids, 30 species of rhododendrons.

Darjeeling, an enchanting town, is situated below beautiful of snow-capped mountains. The city is  surrounded by lush green tea plantations. Darjeeling, which is also known as Queen of the Hills, is popular worldwide for its tea farming. 

Seasons: September, October, November, December, March and May are best months to visit Sikkim and Darjeeling.

VISA

All foreign nationals, except Nepalese and Bhutanese, require a passport with an Indian visa prior to their arrival. Besides, they also require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter Sikkim. The ILP is valid for 15 days and is available from most Indian Embassies abroad.

SEASON

The best time of the year to visit Sikkim & Darjeeling is from September to December & again March to May.
